A Fortson man was accused Saturday morning of having a gun inside a downtown club, police said.
Jason Scott Blackmon, 25, was charged with carrying a deadly weapon to a public gathering after Columbus police officers got a tip, records show.
Police were patrolling the downtown area around 1:50 a.m. when someone told them that a man inside Big City Club, 1113 Broadway, had a gun, reports state. The officers went inside and spoke with Blackmon, who was holding a Bud Light, police said.
The officers asked whether Blackmon had a gun, and he told police he did, records show.
The .380-caliber pistol was secured by police.
Blackmon said has a concealed weapons permit, though he said he was wrong for having the gun while drinking alcohol, reports state.
Blackmon made his bond Saturday.
