Hurtsboro man was fatally shot outside a home

A Hurtsboro, Ala., man was fatally shot outside a Russell County home early Sunday, authorities said.

Alford Lorenzo Brown, 28, was killed outside a Cobb Street home, said Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.

“He was shot and killed,” the coroner added. “He was struck in the head and the abdomen.”

The shooting happened shortly after 2 a.m. Sumbry pronounced Brown dead at 5:14 a.m., he said.

Brown was sent to Montgomery for an autopsy, the coroner said. The case is under investigation by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office.
