Nursing instructor Lisa O'Steen is the "Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year" for Columbus Technical College.

In a release from the school, O'Steen said "it is the ultimate honor to be selected as instructor of the year by your peers."

She gets a parking spot for a year, a check for $300 and the chance to be the state winner in September.

The award is named for Thomas "Rick" Perkins an instructor at West Central Technical College who received the award, then the Commissioner's Award of Excellence , prior to his death.

Columbus Technical College is a great place to work," said O'Steen, "and it allows instructors to focus on quality education."
