AlaTrade Foods LLC, a Guntersville, Ala., chicken processing company will have the ribbon cutting for its new $15 million plant in the Phenix Industrial Park at 11 a.m. Dec. 18.

Victor Cross, president of the Phenix City-Russell County Chamber of Commerce, said the company has hired 350 employees for the 85,000 square foot facility with another 150 employees expected to be added in the next month.

The company has said the plant, which processes chicken parts, could hire as many as 800 people when completely operational. Included among the new hires are textile workers displaced by the closing of several Phenix City mills in the last few years, including Johns Manville.
