Russell County polls open for runoff

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. EDT until 8 p.m. EDT for the Russell County Commission District 7 runoff election between incumbent Commissioner J.D. Upshaw and Larry Screws, a principal in the Russell County School System.

The precincts in District 7 are located at Austin Sumbry Park in Phenix City, the Old Russell County Courthouse in Seale, Hurtsboro and Hatchechubbee.

Screws led the race in the June 3 primary by a 63-vote margin over Upshaw, 396-333 votes. Third-place finisher R.J. Schweiger tallied 212 votes.
