Atlanta Braves announcer Pete Van Wieren has announced his retirement.

Van Wieren was a play-by-play announcer the Braves for the past 33 years. Last season, he was relegated to broadcasting just on radio. But he was a member of the TBS telecasts for most of those years.

“This is something my family and I have been thinking about the last couple of years,” Van Wieren said in a release from the Braves. “It’s simply a desire to live my life without the restrictions of a baseball schedule. I want to thank the Braves, my broadcast partners and especially the fans for their support over the years.”
