An Americus, Ga., girl Kalia Youngblood, a third grader at Sarah Cobb Elementary School was among the first place winners of the fire safety poster contest sponsored by the office of Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine.
Oxendine presented the award at a "Life, Fire and Safety"Awards luncheon in Atlanta.
Wayne Henderson of the Walker County Fire Department was given the Firefighter of the Year Award.
