In a race that was too close to call late Tuesday night before advanced votes rolled in, the Ledger-Enquirer has determined John Darr beat out incumbent Ralph Johnson and write-in candidate Mark LaJoye in the race for Muscogee County Sheriff.

Darr had a more than 9,000 vote lead after absentee ballots were counted, but before final precinct had been reported.

With 47 of 48 precincts counted, Darr had 16,686 votes to Johnson's 15,628 votes. Darr got 18,960 absentee ballots while Johnson pulled in 10,526 absentee ballots.
