Thousands of residents in Muscogee and Russell counties are without power tonight due to waves of severe weather that has swept the Chattahoochee Valley on this Good Friday.

According to Lynn Wallace with Georgia Power, about 2,700 residences in West Georgia are without power. About 2,200 of those households are in Columbus, mostly in the Bull Creek area. There are 486 residences without power in Manchester, Ga., Wallace said.

In Russell County, about 2,000 residences are in the dark.

Wallace said crews will begin repairs as soon as it is safe for them to access storm-ravaged areas of Muscogee County.
