CVCC 12,

FAULKNER STATE 9

Chattahoochee Valley Community College is one win away from clinching a berth in the ACCC tournament after Friday’s victory at Howard Lake Field.

Faulkner State built a 7-1 lead with a seven-run outburst in the third inning against CVCC starter Bo Foster. But the Pirates (35-16, 17-8) battled back to pull within 9-7 heading into the bottom of the seventh.

CVCC scored five times with Rick Noelte tying the game with a two-run single and Matt Black giving it the lead with a hit.

Drew Freeman (5-1) pitched the final three innings to earn the win.

The two teams close out the regular season with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. today. With a win or some help from other teams, CVCC would earn a berth in the ACCC tournament.
