DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Miami used a seven-run sixth inning to beat Georgia Tech 8-6 in their opening game of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament on Wednesday.
The Hurricanes (36-18) trailed 2-1 before their big inning and handed Tech’s Deck McGuire (10-1) his first loss of the year. Miami had five doubles in the inning.
Tech (34-16-1) narrowed the gap from 8-2 to 8-6 on a two-run double in the sixth by Tony Plagman and a two-run single in the seventh by Jeff Rowland.
