It's done for tonight

10:10 p.m. The show is over for the evening. We'll be back tomorrow. I was able to sit in the light/sound booth tonight. I had plenty of light and great company. Thanks, guys! And thank you Cherwanda Tookes, who allowed me to sit in here.

10:08 p.m. In the Outstanding Teen competition, the fitness winner is Miss Capital City Colby Dee Coskery, 17; the evening wear winner is Miss Cobb County Brianna Godshalk, 16; the talent winner is Miss Albany Sara Whetsell, 16. Coskery and Godshalk were preliminary winners Wednesday night.

In the Miss Georgia competition, the swimsuit winner is Miss Fulton County Rhonda Allen, 23; evening wear winner is Miss Cobb County Emily Cook, 22; the talent winner is Miss Southern Hearthland Laura Margaret Stone, 21, who played Khachaturian's "Toccata."

10:07 p.m. Just realized that all of the Miss Georgia contestants are wearing white. The teens are wearing various colors.

9:57 p.m. Miss Georgia 2008 Chasity Hardman sings "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." And does a fantastic job. She gets a standing ovation from the audience. April and Michael talk to Chasity. She talks about her new CD that is available in the audience. Her first song is "She-ro," that she wrote. April tells the audience to listen carefully so they can find out when they can visit with their contestant. Featured vocalist David Williams sings Leon Russell's "A Song for You," while the auditors are tabulating the judges' scores.

9:49 p.m. The evening wear competitiion begins. There are some truly beautiful gowns. A lot of white ones.

9:41 p.m. The hosts spend a lot of time talking as a huge set change takes place. I'm surprised therer's been no mention of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett dying today. Michael Ruddell is telling the audience that his father is single, successful and "disease-free." April Brinson Slaughenhoup and Michael are goofing around. They make announcements and make heart-felt salutes to several Miss Georgia associates who died in the past year, David Laney, chairman of the iss Georgia Board of Trustees, Miss Georgia 1966 Maudie Walker and Floreida Harrell, Miss Georgia Field director and official Miss Georgia traveling companion. They also announce former Miss Georgias in the audience.

9:36 p.m. The audience members wave banners, fans, pom-poms and light sticks around whenever their contestant takes the stage.

9:25 p.m. The final portion of talent of Miss Georgia begins with a vocalist.

9:18 p.m. The onstage questioning begins. A sample question: "If you could be guaranteed anything in life other than money, what would that be?" The answer: Special K something because she hasn't had any the past few months.

9:06 p.m. The talent portion for the Miss Georgia contestants begin. The first operatic aria of the competition is sung tonight.

9:01 p.m. We're back and the Princesses are on stage with Michael Ruddell as he sings to them.

8:45 p.m. Again, the judges are dancing as they leave the orchestra pit. Now, intermission begins.

8:34 p.m. Host Michael Ruddell is singing, as the Outstanding Teens come out on stage in their evening wear. The question-and-answer session begins. A sample question: "Should boys and girls be separated in schools?"

8:23 p.m. Just found out that WRBL-TV 3 is live-streaming the competition through its Web site.

8:20 p.m. The second group of Outstanding Teen talent competitors are on stage. The first competitor is playing the piano.

8:13 p.m. Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen 2008 Hilary Pulos is dancing to a medley of of '80s hits. She choreographed it herself. The contestants competing in Lifestyle and Fitness are wearing black skorts and form-fitting tops. April introduces each teen.

8:01 p.m. Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen talent competition begins with a tap number to "Boogie Shoes."

7:58 p.m. Chasity Hardman sings "Single Ladies" as the swimsuit competition begins. Each contestant comes out with a scarf wrapped around her hips, which she takes off and gives to one of the two body builders on stage. Each contestant has taped a little funny story or something that they walk out on.

7:51 p.m. The judges are introduced. Each judge taped a statement and it's genius. It means the hosts don't have to read their credentials. The judges are Miss America 1977 Dorothy Benham, Seminoff Davis, Robert Dothard, Chad Lemon and Columus State University's Meri Robinson.

7:50 p.m. The hosts are on stage. Michael Ruddell and Miss Georgia 1998 April Brinson Slaughenhoup.

7:49 p.m. Miss Georgia 2008 Chasity Hardman introduces herself. The drumline is trying its best.

7:43 p.m. The rest of the Northside High School drumline accompany the 35 Miss Georgia contestants.

7:37 p.m. Three drummers from the Northside High School drumline accompany the 31 Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen contestants. The teen-agers introduce themselves.

7:34 p.m. The ballyhoo begins, using the same music Miss Georgia has used for years.

7:32 p.m. Only two minutes late tonight, with the announcement asking people to turn off their cell phones.

Co-host Michael Ruddell sings the National Anthem. It's a special night for Michael, his father is in the audience. He does an excellent job singing.

7:21 p.m. Like last night, people are beginning file into the Bill Heard Theatre for the second night of the preliminary competition for Miss Georgia 2009 and Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen 2009.

Many people are still in the lobby of the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, looking at the silent auction items and buying Miss Georgia programs.

Even with the announcement to take your seats, people are still looking for their seats.

The second night of preliminary competitions for Miss Georgia 2009 and Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen 2009 begin at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Bill Heard Theatre, RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, 900 Broadway.

Tickets are still available. Tickets are $25 tonight; $50 Friday and $75 for the finals Saturday.

In Wednesday, the first night of the preliminary competition, in the Outstanding Teen competition, Miss Atlanta, 17-year-old Sara Diggins won preliminary fitness competition.The evening wear winner was Miss Capital City, 17-year-old Colby Dee Coskery. The preliminary talent winner was Miss Cobb County, 16-year-old Brianna Godshalk, who played "Zigeunerweisen" on the violin.

In the Miss Georgia competition, 20-year-old Christina McCauley, who is Miss Southern Empire, won the swimsuit competition. The evening wear winner was Kristen Little, 19, Miss Georgia State University. The talent winner was Miss Capital City, Kristina Kay Higgins, 24, who sang "There Will Come a Day."
