Ensign Lauren Nevels, a recent Auburn University graduate, is the top Naval ROTC midshipman in the nation.
Nevels received the Admiral James L. Holloway Jr. Award June 30.
Rear Admiral Robert Crates, president of the Southern Region of the Navy League of the United States, presented the award.
In May, Nevels graduated summa cum laude from Auburn's School of Nursing.
In July, Nevels will head to Guam for her next duty station where she will work as a nurse at the naval hospital on the island.
