It didn’t take long for Carver quarterback Devin Burns to find a fitting replacement for Georgia.
The rising senior committed to Maryland during a visit to the College Park, Md.-campus on Saturday, according to Carver coach Dell McGee.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Burns made his decision less than two weeks after Georgia withdrew its scholarship offer, leading McGee to declare Georgia was no longer welcome at Carver.
Burns is a 3-star recruit by rivals.com and is No. 78 on the site’s list of the top 100 recruits for 2010.
Burns led Carver to the state semifinals last season, completing 55-of-85 passes for 736 yards and eight touchdowns. He also ran for 363 yards on 68 carries with two touchdowns,
