The man accused of strangling a 36-year-old Shiloh, Ga., woman to death appeared for the first time in court on Monday, authorities said.

Kirk Anthony Bonner, 44, of 194 Peaceful Lane, Manchester, Ga., had been out on bond for three days on unrelated charges in Meriwether County when he allegedly strangled Gloria Ann Bray on Thursday, said Talbot County Sheriff’s Maj. Jeff Sivell.

Bray’s body was found on the living room floor of her Chestnut Grove Road home in Shiloh. Deputies were still at her house when Bonner came to the home Thursday night in Bray’s 2001 Isuzu Trooper, Sivell said.

“We interviewed him Thursday night,” the major said. “He actually returned to the scene in her vehicle.”

Sivell said Bonner used his hands to strangle Bray over several hundred dollars. Bonner was arrested at his home around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Bonner faces charges of murder, robbery and theft by taking a motor vehicle in the Thursday death of Bray, Sivell said.

On Monday, Bonner was formally told of the charges against him and details of the accusation, Sivell said. His case then was bound over to Talbot County Superior Court.
