Callaway Gardens and the city of Pine Mountain, Ga., will play host next month to more than 1,100 cyclists riding in the 2009 Bike MS: Cox Atlanta Ride.
The event begins September 12 and spins through the 13th. Proceeds from the ride benefit the Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. This year’s goal is $1.2 million to help find a cure for the disease and to support those living with MS in Georgia and their families.
There will be festivities throughout the event, with a special 4th Annual Street Festival and Expo on Friday, September 11, hosted by the City of Pine Mountain and Callaway Gardens.
Volunteers are needed to do such tasks as staff the check-in tables, set up and break down the event site, assist with parking and traffic and provide medical assistance when needed.
There are several shifts available for each volunteer job Friday through Sunday. Call Amanda Moran, Community Development Manager for the Georgia Chapter, at 1-800-FIGHTMS for more details or to volunteer. To learn more about the event, visit www.bikemsatlanta.org.
