A collision involving a motorcycle and bicycle in LaGrange Friday has left two men dead.

Thirty-six year old Brian D. Carroll, who was on the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at 6:46 p.m., said Troup County Coroner Jeff Cook. The bicyclist, 22-year-old Quintin D. Burks, who also went by LaShaun, was pronounced dead on the scene a minute later. Both lived in LaGrange. Carroll had recently moved from Temple, Ga.

LaGrange police were called to the intersection of Polk and Lindsey Streets, both residential streets, around 5:10 p.m. They determined Burks was riding his Huffy bike north on Polk Street in the left lane. Carroll, on a 1994 Honda CBR600 motorcycle, then came up behind Burks in the right lane.

“(Burks) was in the wrong lane and he went to make a right turn onto Polk Street from Lindsey,” said LaGrange Cpl. Donald LaMee. Burks moved into the motorcycle’s path, which was going between 75 to 100 mph.

“Carroll literally T-boned him in the side,” LaMee said. “It was horrific.”

Police said neither was wearing a helmet. The police department’s traffic division is investigating the case.
