Former Shaw receiver Bergeron signs to Atlanta Falcons' practice squad

Published: September 6, 2009

Former Shaw standout and indoor football star Troy Bergeron signed on as a member of the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad Sunday.

The signing came a day after the wide receiver was cut along with a dozen others as the Falcons trimmed their preseason roster to meet the NFL's 53-man limit. After being cut, the league requires players be put on waiver wires for 24 hours before they can be signed to a practice squad.

“I think it'll be a good experience and give me some more time to pick up the play book a little better,” Bergeron said. “If one guy goes down, it's on me, so I've got to get ready and go from there.”
