Columbus psychotherapist Harold McRae has teamed up with Ranger Joe’s to present a free post-traumatic stress disorder workshop for local military spouses.
The two workshops, geared toward the wives and husbands of soldiers who are deployed, going to be deployed or have been deployed, will take place Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center.
McRae and fellow counselor, Sarah Bird, will lead the sessions.
During the workshop, participants will gain an understanding of what combat stress and PTSD are and how they affect those who deploy to combat zones.
McRae and Bird will also provide various tools and methods to help spouses adjust to stressful situations as well as assist them in dealing with concerns and anxieties.
Bird is traveling to Columbus from Ireland where she is a leading practitioner in the field of energy psychology. She is also a personal development consultant who works on a broad range of issues that people face within the private and state sectors. Bird has been working in the field of stress management and trauma for the past two decades.
McRae is a licensed marriage and family therapist, a professional counselor and a master addiction counselor.
He is a contract provider for the Veterans Administration. McRae has provided services to veterans for over 25 years.
Admission to the workshops is free to military spouses.
Registration begins at 9:15 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Walk-ins are welcome.
