Keni Thomas will sing the National Anthem at Game 1 of the world Series tonight

Keni Thomas, who started the group Cornbread while stationed at Fort Benning in the early 1990s, will be singing the National Anthem before tonight's Game 1 of the World Series. The New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies are playing for the title.

He was originally scheduled to sing "God Bless America" during the seventh inning stretch.

"I'm running crazy right now in New York," Thomas said. "I got bumped up to the (National) Anthem. Jay-Z and Alicia Keys were gonna do it. But they're being moved to another night. They are telling me it's gonna be televised as of now."

He has sung the National Anthem five times during the regular season at Yankee Stadium the past few years.

Now based in Nashville, Thomas is a country music singer. A former Army Ranger, Thomas fought in the battle in Mogadishu, Somalia, that was chronicled in the book and movie, "Black Hawk Down."

The World Series can be seen at 8 p.m. on Fox. Locally, Fox is WXTX-TV 54.
