Derrick Lamar Johnson turned himself in Wednesday to Columbus police in connection with the Tuesday night shooting of Eric Maxwell, who died from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Police investigators say Johnson was in the back seat of a 1995 Ford Taurus when he shot Maxwell. The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Second Avenue.
He will appear in Recorder's Court Thursday at 8 a.m.
