Open house meeting on long-range transportation plan set 5:30-7 p.m. today

Get to the Columbus Government Center before the storms come and the streets flood, and you can review and comment on a regional long-range transportation plan now in a draft version.

Today's 5:30-7 p.m. meeting will be in the Columbus Council chambers on the city Government Center's plaza level, one level up from the ground floor. There residents can get a look at the draft plan and offer comments.

The plan is intended to prepare the area for the continued growth expected from Fort Benning and from new and expanding businesses such as Kia and Aflac.

Meetings scheduled for the same times will be Tuesday at 439 Broad St. in Cusseta and Thursday at Phenix City's Central Activities Center, 1500 14th St.
