A Columbus man was robbed downtown early Saturday while walking to his car with a friend.

The 23-year-old man and his friend were walking near 12th Street and Front Avenue around 2 a.m. That’s when a man approached them, pointed a pistol at the friend’s head and demanded their belongings, police said.

The gunman took a $200 Blackberry cell phone and a wallet from the 23-year-old victim. The two friends were not hurt.

The robber fled in what the victims described as a newer model silver four-door pick-up truck.

Columbus police broadcasted the description around 2:20 a.m. but were unable to find the suspect.
