Columbus courts: Dustin Ray Horton, 22, indicted for murder in death of Scott Jeremy Drago

Dustin Ray Horton, the Seale, Ala. man accused in the slaying of former deputy Scott Jeremy Drago, was indicted for murder on Tuesday.

Horton, 22, is accused of hitting Drago, 36, on June 28 in the parking lot of Waffle House, 6751 Veterans Parkway. Drago fell and struck the pavement. Police reports state that he had a fractured skull where he landed on the back of his head.

Drago worked as a deputy with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office from January 2001 to October 2005.

Horton is being held at the Muscogee County Jail.
