Fort Benning will welcome Santa Claus to the Airborne School on Dec. 11.

Personnel from the 1st Battalion, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment will join Santa in lighting the 18th annual 250-foot airborne tower on Eubanks Field after performing an Airborne jump with Fort Benning’s command exhibition parachute team, the Silver Wings, at approximately 6 p.m.

The free event is open to the public.

Following the jump, Fort Benning's fire department will then escort Santa to his chair where he will give out gifts and candy before leading the countdown for the tower lighting.

Other activities leading up to Santa’s arrival will begin at about 3 p.m., including opening the 34-foot towers for “prospective” airborne students to test their wings.
