ALL 16 county health departments in the West Central Health District which includes Muscogee County are now offering H1N1 vaccine to the general public.
West Central Health District director Zsolt Koppanyi said departments have a supply on hand.
Koppanyi explained that Georgia and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have relaxed restrictions to the vaccine, thereby opening the way to make it available to the general population.
Initial vaccine doses were offered to five priority groups most at risk of developing complications from the virus.
Those groups are pregnant women, health care personnel, emergency medical personnel, anybody who lives or cares for infants, anyone from six months to 24 years of age.
While some administrative fees may be charged to either Medicaid, Medicare or private insurance, the H1N1 vaccine is free to the public at all county health departments.
