Discount Tickets to Atlanta Hawks, Thrashers games

Pistol & rifle level 1 coaches course
The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit will host a Level 1 pistol coach course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Phillips Range. The cost is $100. The Level 1 rifle coach course will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb 6-7. The cost is $100.
Each participant will be awarded a Level 1 coach certification upon successful completion of the course. The National Rifle Association, Civilian Marksmanship Program, and USA Shooting co-sponsor the coaches programs. Participants must provide their own lodging and meals.

Intramural Basketball
The preseason intramural basketball tournament on post continues through Wednesday at the Smith Fitness Center.

CG GOLF TOURNAMENT
The next CG Golf Tournament is Thursday at the Fort Benning Golf Course. The cost is $30 if paid in advance or $35 on the day of the event. The cost includes cart, greens fee, two mulligans, food and prizes.

SNOWBOARDING TRIP
Outdoor Recreation and Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers will host a snowboarding trip Jan. 22-24 in Gatlinburg, Tenn. The cost is $175 to ski and $195 to snowboard. The cost includes round-trip transportation, double occupancy accommodations, and a ski or snowboarding package with an equipment rental, an evening lift ticket, two round-trip tram tickets and a lesson. Participants must sign up by Dec. 29.

Poker run bicycle ride
There will be a poker run bicycle ride at 9 a.m. Jan. 9 beginning at Outdoor Recreation, 1707 Gillespie St. Bicyclists will get four cards from four locations around Main Post and bring them back to see who has the best hand. Prizes will be awarded. The cost is $12 per person and the event is open to all ages. The deadline to register is Jan. 7. The event will be canceled if there is inclement weather.

PAINTBALL AT THE WOODLANDS
Outdoor Recreation will host Paintball at the Woodlands from 1 to 5 p.m. Jan. 15, Feb. 12 and April 2. The event is free. Paintballers can bring their own equipment or rent from Outdoor Recreation. Carbon dioxide and paintballs will be on sale at the event.

OPEN MAT HOURS
The U.S. Army Combatives School is offering extended facility hours (open mat time) for all Soldiers, Army civilians and family members.
The hours are from 6 to 8 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Combatives School instructors will be on hand to provide help.

AFLAC OUTDOOR GAMES
As host city of the 2009 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series semifinal round and Collegiate Championship, Columbus will be featured on ESPN2 Dec. 20 and 27.
Lumberjacks came to Georgia during the competition as part of the Aflac Outdoor Games at the South Commons Softball Complex June 19-21.
The airings of the series featuring Columbus are:

FORT BENNING RIFLE AND PISTOL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Fort Benning Rifle and Pistol Championships are approaching. These matches include two marksmanship skills — long-range precision rifle marksmanship and combat-oriented pistol marksmanship. The pistol matches are Feb. 3-5 and the rifle matches are Feb. 9-11. Ammunition is provided by USAMU. You can use your assigned weapon or one can be supplied for you.
