Ronnie, the muscle-bound orange-skinned resident of MTV's "Jersey Shore," was arrested and spent the night in jail on the season finale of the show. The Situation and Snooki hooked up in the hot tub. Ronnie and Sammi "Sweetheart" decided that their relationship could continue beyond the reality show. And the entire cast shared their farewells as they left the home one by one.
The hour-long show was followed by a reunion special that centered on an awkward exchange between Ronnie and Sweetheart. When the host said she was about to air some never-before-seen footage, Sweetheart got uncomfortable and abruptly left for the bathroom. She called it an emotional breakdown.
When she came back, the footage showed her talking to The Situation about flirting with a cop. The clip led to tension between Ronnie and Sweetheart. The couple said it was enough to ruin their relationship.
Back to the finale: The night began with a party that led to an altercation on the shore, in which Ronnie ran toward a man, leaving him unconscious on the ground, his face digitized from view.
Ronnie ended up in jail and ultimately bonded himself out after a few hours' incarceration. "Sweetheart" picked him up from jail, and Snooki, in a parallel storyline shown in a preview, hooked up with The Situation.
The lead up to Snooki's hook up with The Situation began with a seemingly desperate search for a date. The fake-tanned woman first walked home and called a man who was supposed to meet her for a date, though he spurned her.
Emotionally a wreck, Snooki then made her way to the boardwalk, where she began a party by herself, dancing alone and slowly gathering a crowd around her. However, Snookie didn't realize that her ex-boyfriend, who she dated for eight months, was watching.
"Come home with me," Snooki pleaded with her ex.
"No. No. No," the ex repeatedly told her.
Snooki, unbelieving, stalked away in search of more men.
After the commercial break, the guys are hanging out at a bar, musing on how they're going to spend the next few months or years.
"I want to go to Rhode Island," The Situation says.
"Yeah, yeah," the other guys agree.
Meanwhile, back at the Jersey Shore cave, Ronnie and Sweetheart enjoyed a meal together, where they decided that their relationship should extend beyond the boundaries of an MTV reality show.
True to the preview, The Situation and Snooki shared a kiss in the hot tub. Though The Situation had taken off Snooki's top, he realized that she was more of a sister to him and left the hot tub with his drink, leaving the now completely bikini clad Snooki alone in the hot tub.
The final episode drew to a close with a barbecue, and then a slow series of goodbyes, beginning with The Situation. Then, one by one, they got in their cars and drove away.
Snooki was the last, telling the audience about how much she's changed. Then, trailing her suitcases behind her, cursing, she pulled her luggage to her car and disappeared along the Jersey Shore.
