Catching but a glimpse of this Valentine's Day campaign, you might wonder, "Why would conservationists want endangered species to use condoms?"

Take a closer look and you'll see that's not what the Center for Biological Diversity has in mind with its new condom design.

The center today announced that for this coming Valentine's Day, it will unveil a nationwide campaign to distribute endangered species condoms "to highlight the devastating impact of overpopulation on endangered species and their habitats."

The overpopulation opponents say this effort "will be staffed by a large number of volunteer condom distributors all over the country and supported by an extensive Web site with information on overpopulation and extinction, as well as images of the six endangered species featured on the freely distributed condoms."
