Radio star Howard Stern is the newest rumored replacement for "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell.

The news comes from a recent report in the New York Post's Page Six, where a dubious "insider" says Stern is producers' No. 1 replacement choice.

However, Entertainment Weekly on Friday quoted a source close to "Idol" as saying "the search has just begun, nor are there any front-runners at this time."

Stern's exclusive deal with Sirius XM Radio reportedly concludes at the end of the year.

Will Stern join "Idol"? That's uncertain. His blunt attitude is similar to Cowell's, but chances are he's still too divisive for what's still billed as a family-friendly show.
