Fort Benning hosted a deployment ceremony Friday morning for 13 soldiers with the 926th Medical Detachment who will soon leave for Iraq.

The group of preventive medicine technicians will deploy when the unit departs in mid-February. They will be attached to a medical brigade.

During their yearlong tour, the soldiers will provide preventive medicine support to minimize health threats in their area of operation.

The 926th returned from their last deployment in July 2008 after 15 months overseas.

The unit is part of the 14th Combat Support Hospital, which is currently stationed in Iraq.

Friday’s ceremony took place at 10 a.m. at the Sightseeing Road Chapel on post.
