"I don't know if I've made the right choice. What have I done?" Ali cried in her limo ride away from Jake.
"It hurts like crazy that Ali is gone. I didn't expect to come all this way to get my heart broken again," Jake said as he leaned over a stair rail apparently in tears.
When he went back inside the hotel, his spirits were lifted when he saw Tenley, Vienna and Gia waiting.
"I realize that I have three amazing women, and I'm really excited to continue this journey with them." On next week's journey, Jake and the three remaining women will visit St. Lucia. A preview for next week's episode indicates Jake will receive a call from Ali.
Here's a recap of Monday's show:
Jake visited the hometowns of his remaining four bachelorettes — Tenley, 25, from Oregon; Ali, 25, an account manager in San Francisco who's from Massachusetts; Gia, 26, a swimsuit model from New York and Vienna, 23, from Florida.
After the four visits, Ali came to Jake's hotel room in L.A. to tell him that she had to choose whether to stay on the show and leave her job or leave the show and go back to work.
"I can say we have something really special." Jake said. "Life is about minimizing your regrets. You just have to weigh which one is going to be a bigger regret... Selfishly, you know, I would say, you know, stay here and take a chance on me. But, I can't, right now, guarantee you I'm going to put a ring on your finger."
Ali said she would tell Jake what she'd decided at the evening's rose ceremony. Ali left Jake's hotel room and broke down in tears in the hallway.
"If she leaves, I'm going to be devastated... If I could look her in her eyes and tell her 'you are the girl. I want to marry you right now,' it would be a different story. But I can't do that. I'm falling in love with more than one woman right now and I don't know where that's going to end up," Jake said.
Before the rose ceremony, Ali told host Chris Harrison that she needed to talk to Jake.
"There's so many what ifs and maybes," Ali told Jake.
"The fact of the matter is there's still three other girls downstairs," Ali said. "If you were mine that choice would be easy."
"I don't want you to go," Jake said. "If you choose to leave, I'll be devastated."
Ali leaned into Jake and cried. She softly said something. Subtitles appeared on the TV screen reading "I love you." Jake didn't appear to answer.
Here's a recap of the hometown visits:
Jake traveled to New York City to visit Gia's mother and stepdad.
Gia's mom Donna requested a private chat with Jake. After the conversation, Gia's mom was happy. "I'm hoping I met Gia's future husband. I really am."
Gia looked to her mom for help in her struggle with the fact that Jake was affectionate with all the remaining girls and not just Gia. Donna told Gia "you're a very special person." Donna said she could see the "love in Jake's eyes."
When Gia's stepdad said he hoped to see Jake again, Jake said "definitely."
Jake seemed happy with visit. "Today I feel like I got to see the real Gia. I love it so much when she lets me in because it's like oh my gosh, I love this girl. I love this girl."
Before Jake visited with Ali's mom, sister and brother in Massachusetts, Ali took Jake to her grandma's empty house.
Though Ali's grandma died, Ali said it was important for Jake to visit her grandma's house. "'I know her spirit lives there, and she met him tonight."
Jake said the visit made him think about life and death and the person with whom he would share those future experiences. "It was really sad but in a way it was kind of intimate," Jake said.
Beth, Ali's mother, told Jake she wanted to know what he thought about family. "Family is extremely important to me," Jake said.
Jake asked for Beth's blessing should he decide to propose to Ali. He got it.
"I feel good about him... he's good for you." Beth told Ali. Beth said she was looking forward to planning their wedding.
"I'm so happy. I know that my family is just smitten with you," Ali said. "I want to be there in the end.. I want you. If you asked me today. I would say 'yes'." Jake responded with a kiss.
"Jake is everything I've ever wanted," Ali said.
"I'm right where I need to be with Ali," Jake said.
Before Jake met Tenley's family in Oregon, she showed him the studio where she dances. Tenley choreographed a special dance just for Jake. She said her ex-husband never really appreciated her dancing.
"I was just kind of melting in the chair," Jake said about watching Tenley dance.
Tenley said Jake was beaming every time she looked at him. "It made me feel confident. It made me feel adored," Tenley said.
Then Jake and Tenley danced together. "The most important thing to me is that my husband and I will be a team, and that we'll be a 'we'," Tenley said.
Tenley told Jake that he was the first man she'd brought home to her parents since her divorce.
After dinner with Tenley's dad, mom and sister, Tenley's dad requested a private chat with Jake. Her dad said he was impressed with Jake on last season's "Bachelorette." He wanted to know if Jake was as honest and trustworthy as he seemed on the show. "Are you that guy?" he asked. Jake promised that he was.
Jake asked Tenley's mom if Tenley was really ready to move on after her divorce. "If anybody could be, it's Tenley," her mom said. "It's my pleasure to be her mother."
Jake had a final question for dad. "Can I marry your daughter?" Dad said, "I feel like I could give my blessing for Tenley to be with a person like you."
"I'm falling in love with Jake," Tenley said.
Before the family visit, Vienna took Jake boating in Florida. Jake asked Vienna if her dad liked her boyfriends. Vienna said no. "Good luck," she added.
When Jake and Vienna walked into her parents' house, everyone was crying with happiness at seeing Vienna.
"I'm a daddy's girl," Vienna said.
Vienna's dad said it made him feel uncomfortable that Jake was dating four girls at the same time. He said he expected his daughter to be treated like a princess. Jake promised that if he married Vienna, that's how she would feel.
"I feel myself falling for Vienna... It's really awesome to feel this way about Vienna but it's also scary just cause it's so real," Jake said.
Vienna's feelings were just as strong. "I am falling head over heels for him... It's a glow and everybody could see that tonight."
