Muscogee Schools: Columbus High, Fort Middle celebrate Black History month

Several Muscogee County schools are hosting Black History programs this month.

Columbus High will present its program "The Early Years of Motown" at 1:25 p.m. and 2:10 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18 in the auditorium of the high school on Cherokee Avenue. The program will include choral, band, dance and theater presentations. For more information contact Jan Carter at jcat@mcsdga.net or 706‐748‐2549.

The drama department at Fort Middle School will present at play, "Black Butterfly Emergence," at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The play will honor the contributions of blacks to American history. Black History Month is a remembrance of important people and events in African-American history. It is celebrated every February in the U.S.
