Shutter Island

U.S Marshall Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) investigates the disappearance of a patient at an isolated hospital for the criminally insane. He runs into obstacles in his investigation and begins to question his own sanity. The trailers almost make this look like a haunted house tale with a spooky looking locale and people who look like they know things they shouldn’t. But this is a Martin Scorsese film and he’s not about the supernatural, he’s about crime noir. This one looks like an atmospheric thriller. Rated R for disturbing violent content, language and some nudity.

The Ghost Writer

A ghost writer (Ewan McGregor) is hired to write the memoirs of a former British prime minister (Pierce Brosnan). When he begins investigating his subject, a whole lot of trouble seems to come his way for his paycheck. Interestingly, this film is directed by controversial director Roman Polanski, which might bring a whole different sort of attention to this film. Rated PG-13 for language, brief nudity, sexuality, some violence and a drug reference.

In theatres Feb. 26:

Cop Out

A veteran police detective (Bruce Willis) becomes a crime victim himself when a valuable baseball card is stolen from his collection. He planned to use this card to pay for his daughter’s wedding, so he’s determined to get it back. He recruits an unorthodox partner (Tracy Morgan) to help him on his quest. Rated R for pervasive language including sexual references, violence and brief sexuality.
