Call it wishful thinking, but it seems like we’re “thisclose” to the season when patio parties and sundresses are the norm.

Sure, warm temperatures aren’t yet consistent, but you might want to start dragging your inner party animal out of seasonal hibernation.

Start the process by attending this weekend’s First Friday Block Party in downtown Columbus, when one $10 cover gets you into the majority of Broadway bars.

With drink specials and dancing, it’s hard to go wrong — no matter which hot spot you choose.

Need a starting point? Kick off Friday night with these local acts, all included in the block party.

Peggy Jenkins and The Bizness take the stage at The Loft, 1032 Broadway. The soulful songstress always gets partiers dancing, thanks to her unique blues-inspired versions of party tunes.

Craving country? The musicians from Montgomery Gunn perform a Rascal Flatts after-party at The Roadhouse, 1047 Broadway.

Or, opt for good old rock and roll, courtesy of Ophir Drive. The band, which cites influences like Seether and Shakira, performs at Daileys, 1039 Broadway.
