Alice in Wonderland
This adaptation is kind of a sequel to the first two books Lewis Carroll wrote, an extension is the word being often used in reference to Tim Burton’s version of Lewis Carroll’s world. Helena Bonham Carter is the Red Queen. Johnny Depp is the Mad Hatter. Relative newcomer Mia Wasikowska plays Alice. The world is visualized with a combination of live action and computer-generated special effects and frankly looks extraordinary.
Rated PG for fantasy action and violence.
The Secret of the Kells
As his medieval outpost faces a threat from advancing barbarian hordes, talented, young Brendan looks to finish illuminating an ancient book that could help keep his home safe.
To do so, he will have to overcome his fears of an enchanted forest where mythical creatures are thought to hide. This animated film looks to offer a unique treat for filmgoers of all ages.

Green Zone
Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear star in this action thriller based on the Iraq War.
This movie is less about the war itself and more about the friction and cross purposes between the Department of Defense and the intelligence community.
Some of the buzz coming back is describing this one as a smart, taut thriller-war story, and I must admit I’m intrigued.
Rated R for violence and language.
