Oscar winners 2010: The Hurt Locker wins six Academy Awards

"The Hurt Locker" won six Oscars at Sunday's 82nd Academy Awards show including best picture, best director and best original screenplay. "Avatar" won three Oscars — art direction, cinematography visual effects. "Crazy Heart" received two awards — supporting actor and original song. "Inglourious Basterds" came away with just one Oscar for the best supporting actor performance by Christoph Waltz. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin hosted the show. Here are the winners:

Best picture: "The Hurt Locker."

Best director: Kathyrn Bigelow for "The Hurt Locker." The first woman to win the director award said, "it's the moment of the lifetime." She dedicated the award to the men and women in the military. "May they come home safe."

Best actress: Sandra Bullock for "The Blind Side." She thanked all the other ladies nominated in her category and all the mothers who take care of babies no matter where they come from. She especially thanked her mom who taught her, "we are all deserving of love."

Best actor: Jeff Bridges for his role as an aging country singer in "Crazy Heart." The audience stood as Bridges held up his award and thanked his dad and mom. "They loved show biz so much... this is honoring them as much as it is me." He thanked his wife of 33 years, Sue, and their three daughters. "I wouldn't be up here without you."

Best supporting actor: Christoph Waltz for his role as a Nazi leader in "Inglourious Basterds." He called receiving the award from presenter and actress Penelope Cruz an "uber bingo."

Best supporting actress: Mo'Nique wins for "Precious." She thanked the Academy for making the award about "the performance and not the politics."

Animated feature film: "Up." Director Pete Docter accepted the award and thanked the cast and his family.

Best original song: Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett for "The Weary Kind" from "Crazy Heart." Bingham thanked his wife whom he said he loved "more than rainbows."

Best original screenplay: Mark Boal "The Hurt Locker" dedicated his award to soldiers and to his late father.

Best animated short: "Logorama" director Nicholas Schmerkin accepted the award and thanked the corporate sponsors who appeared in the film. He assured them that "no logos were harmed during the making of the picture."

Documentary short subject: "Music by Prudence."

Live action short film: "The New Tenants."

Makeup: "Star Trek."

Best adapted screenplay: "Precious" by Geoffrey Fletcher said his Oscar was for "precious girls and boys everywhere."

Art direction: "Avatar"

Costume: "Young Victoria." Sandy Powell said "I already have two of these." Then she accepted the award on behalf of all the contemporary costume makers "who don't get the recognition they deserve."

Sound editing: "The Hurt Locker."

Sound mixing: "The Hurt Locker."

Cinematography: "Avatar."

Original score: "Up."

Visual effects: "Avatar."

Documentary feature: "The Cove."

Best film editing: "The Hurt Locker."

Foreign Language: "El Secreto de Sus Ojos."
