Lee County crime: Douglas Bledsoe, 21, charged with robbing a man of his rims

Lee County authorities have arrested Douglas Bledsoe in connection with a robbery that occurred Feb. 13.

On February 13th, man from Columbus reported to the Lee County Sheriff's Office that at approximately 10:15 p.m./CST, he met a unknown black man at the Bleeker Junction gas station on U.S. Highway 280 East, in Salem to show him some rims he was trying to sell that had been advertised in the Thrifty Nickel and on Craig's List.

According to the victim, the unknown man looked at the rims and asked him to follow him to his house to purchase the rims. The victim followed him to a residence on U.S. Hwy 280 East, in Salem. Once they arrived at the residence, the suspect pulled out a handgun, pointed it at him, ordered him to get down on his knees and demanded money.

The suspect took the victim's rims, a handgun, wallet, cell phone,and car stereo system while holding him at gunpoint. The robber then fled the scene driving a maroon 1990's model Grand Marquis type vehicle.

On February 26 at approximately 1:00 p.m./CST, the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Opelika Police Department and the Auburn Police Department arrested Douglas Bledsoe, 21, of Opelika, at the Plaza Motel in Auburn.

Bledsoe has been charged with robbery. This robbery charge stems from the armed robbery reported on February 13, 2010.

Bledsoe is currently being held in the Lee County Detention Facility on a $100.000 bond.
