It was Twitter that introduced little Layla Grace to the world so it seemed fitting, somehow, that the world should learn of the 2-year-old, terminally ill child's passing early Tuesday morning through the popular messaging site.

She died of stage four high risk neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is the most common cancer in infancy and frequently originates in one of the adrenal glands.

At the time of her death, Layla Grace had more than 42,000 fans on Twitter thanks to her parent's unconventional decision to allow the world to track their daughter's battle through the site.

On March 8 at 11:17 a.m. her mother Tweeted:

"Mommy is rocking Layla. She has only opened her eyes once today. Her feet are getting cold too."

Late, at 3 p.m., she sent the following message:

"Please continue 2 pray for peace for Layla. Her dad is in her room right now talking to her & comforting her. She is not doing well at all."

Tuesday morning this is what her parents said:

"Layla went to play with the angels early this morning. Rest in peace precious Layla. 11/26/2007 - 3/9/2010."

The family set up a web site, Laylagrace.org which accepts donations.
