This weekend, the Grand Ole Opry comes to Phenix City, thanks to Saturday’s showcase by local musicians.

The Central Activity Center’s auditorium hosts a Grand Ole Opry tribute show.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with a performance by the Fountain City Twirlers Square Dance Club.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., you’ll see area artists performing skits and Opry songs, plus original material.

The lineup includes Garrett Miles, Stan Edwards, Marsha Short, Gary Parmer, Joey Allcorn and Rebecca Harris.

The artists boast a variety of musical styles. Miles, for example, is a legally blind musician who has opened for acts like George Jones and Blake Shelton.

Allcorn boasts a unique alternative-country sound.

The group will perform traditional country songs by artists who have achieved distinction on the Nashville stage.

Expect the musicians to cover tunes by artists ranging from Patsy Cline to Hank Williams Sr.

Seating at Saturday’s show is limited. Reservations are appreciated, but not required.
