The top eight "American Idol" male semifinalists perform in a one-hour episode that airs 9 p.m. tonight on Fox.

As tonight's show approaches, many fans are wondering if Vote for the Worst pick Tim Urban will secure a spot in this season's top 12.

Urban, arguably the weakest vocalist of the batch, advanced to semifinals after male contestant Chris Golightly was disqualified. He's been criticized by judges, yet earned a fan following thanks to his personality and good looks.

This season's male singers are considerably weaker than the females, but some surprise successes have emerged. Assuming they conquer their nerves, rocker Lee DeWyze and mullet-clad Alex Lambert could be competitive threats.

The singer most in need of a "moment" tonight? Andrew Garcia, a former front-runner who has disappointed judges and viewers in semifinals. He'd probably be already gone if it wasn't for his stellar cover of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" in Hollywood.
