A tornado watch is in effect for Russell and Lee counties, the National Weather Service said.
The watch, in effect until 8 p.m. CST, also includes Chambers, Macon and Tallapoosa counties.
A severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Lee, Chambers, Tallapoosa and Macon counties in Alabama is still in effect until 5 p.m. CST.
