Meet Leppy the leprechaun
I knew a guy in high school who called himself “Leppy.” He looked like a leprechaun. Said he was the most wanted guy in the whole school. Probably had a lot of parking tickets. I don’t know. Let’s not think about him as we roll into the extravaganza of St. Patty’s Day weekend.
Unfortunately, the Irish holiday falls on a Wednesday. Since your boss likely expects you at work the next day, check out SoHo, 5751 Milgen Road, Friday night. Pistoltown is playing at 10 p.m. Bring $5 and your own green dye. The beer likely will retain its normal shade until next week.
Got a bad habit of dressing your dog up in costumes at Halloween? Fill your dastardly urge on Saturday at the 23rd Annual Open Door Walk Classic. The fun starts at 8:30 a.m. at 2405 Second Ave. Enroll Patty, your lovable Irish Setter, in the PAW contest for $5.
Saturday night, don't forget to set your clocks ahead an hour for daylight-saving time, which begins at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Sloth is awesome
Saving your bar money for St. Patrick's Day? Don't worry. Stay home Friday night and catch up on some movies. Oscar-nominated films like "Precious" and "Up in the Air" were recently released on DVD.
I contemplated recommending an entire weekend spent on the couch, but you need some incentive to shower, right? So Saturday, check out the Grand Ole Opry showcase at Phenix City's Central Activity Center. The event features local musicians. Doors open at 6 p.m. and adult tickets are $5.
Wrap up the weekend by returning to the couch for Sunday's premiere of the new season of "Kendra." The show, which features former "Girl Next Door" Kendra Wilkinson, airs 10 p.m. Sunday on E!
