For the second week in a row, detectives Louie and Michael got first place in the fifth leg of the Amazing Race on Sunday night.

Dad and daughter team Steve and Allie came in second, the spot they also got last week. Married couple Joe and Heidi came in last and were eliminated.

In this episode, teams were bused from Germany to France, they had had to find a bakery and buy a baggette — a long piece of bread. Cooked inside the baggette was their clue, which took them to a WWI scene complete with Doughboys, trenches and low-flying airplanes.

Here they had two options — decipher a Morse code message or crawl underneath barbed wire and retrieve a message for a homing pigeon. All teams chose the latter, though Joe and Heidi were forced by the detectives in a U-turn to do both trials. They never completed translating the code and were eliminated from the race while standing in the trenches.

After the war scene, the teams hopped on bicycles clad in fake mustaches and headed to the leg’s end.

For taking first place, the detectives each got 55-inches HDTVs.

Next week, the teams are expected to remain in France.
