Two women were arrested Monday in Columbus Recorder’s Court and accused of threatening to extort a man facing child molestation charges.

A 35-year-old woman and a 33-year-old woman, both of Phenix City, were arrested on outstanding warrants of criminal attempt extortion, Columbus police reports state. Police say they accused John Przenkop of child molestation and tried to extort money from him.

Przenkop, 43, was scheduled for Columbus Recorder’s Court Monday morning on charges including aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, pandering and child pornography. According to Przenkop’s arrest report, he’s accused of soliciting and performing “immoral and indecent acts” with two children younger than 16. He’s also accused of having a video of himself engaged in sexual acts with two female minors.

The two women were arrested at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Recorder’s Court, reports state. Their initial court hearing, as well as Przenkop’s, is scheduled for 9 a.m. today.

Federal authorities have said they are interested in Przenkop’s case, though Columbus police haven’t yet spoken with the FBI about it, Sgt. Bill Gasaway said Sunday. Gasaway said he intends to schedule a meeting with FBI agents about the case.

Muscogee County State Court records show that Przenkop was charged in 1999 with four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to records, Przenkop provided four runaways who were minors with a motel room with two adult men.

Court records state that the case against Przenkop was deferred by the prosecutor.
