LAGRANGE, Ga. — The Troup County chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States has named its 2010 Teacher of the Year.
Long Cane Middle School history teacher and head football coach Jeff Benefield has been named the group's top educator. The group honors teachers who promote patriotism in schools.
According the the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Web site, the organization has 2.2 million members worldwide and it's mission is to "honor the dead by helping the living through veterans' service community service, national security and a strong national defense."
