A Fort Benning soldier was killed in Iraq, the U.S. Department of Defense said.

Enemy forces attacked Sgt. Anthony O. Magee, 29, of Hattiesburg, Miss., on April 24 with indirect fire while he was with his unit at Contingency Operating Base Kalsu, Iskandariyah, in Iraq. Magee died from his wounds on April 27 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, the Defense Department said.

Magee was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division.
