"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" dominated when the 2010 MTV Movie Awards aired Sunday night. The vampire film's collection of honors included Best Movie.
The live show was heavy on expletives, some of which censors didn't catch. In addition to preview clips from the new "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" films, the show's highlights included an on-stage kiss between actresses Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson.
Also, Tom Cruise resurrected his "Tropic Thunder" character Les Grossman and performed with Jennifer Lopez. Here's what happened when we live-blogged the show:
***
The show kicks off with a MacGruber parody featuring Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson. We also see Tom Cruise's Les Grossman character. Other parodies include the new "Karate Kid" film, "The Blind Side" "Precious" and more.
In his opening monologue, host Aziz Ansari pokes fun at 3D movies, Avatar and "Twilight." He's an Edward fan.
9:11 - Best Female Performance goes to Kristen Stewart for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." No surprise. K-Stew is awkward as usual on stage. She says, "I guess Twilight is really awesome and I agree." Naturally, the camera focuses on Robert Pattinson throughout her speech.
9:15 - TI is on stage, looking very dapper while reminding us we can still vote for Best Movie.
9:22 - While at the podium, Jonah Hill and Russell Brand fight about Team Edward/Team Jacob from "Twilight." P Diddy interrupts: "Any time you guys open your mouth, I get less cool." Russell Brand compares Team Jacob/Team Edward to the East Coast/West Coast conflict.
9:24 - Best Breakout Performance goes to Anna Kendrick from "Up In the Air." She says she's not cool enough to win an MTV Movie Award. She's not going to talk a lot and mess this moment up.
9:25 - Ed Helms and Ken Jeong perform a tribute to music and cinema. Helms mocks Gaga, while Ken Jeong does some interpretive dance. Then, the moment is interrupted by...Tom Cruise as his "Tropic Thunder" character? Rapping then dancing on stage with J-Lo? Wow, that whole thing was a little odd. Cool or pathetic? Weigh in.
9:37 - Amanda Seyfried wins scariest performance for her role in "Jennifer's Body." She says she had a good time making the movie, even though not a lot of people saw it.
9:38 - Sneak peek of the new "Harry Potter" film. It's brief, but it looks like we're in for lots of drama especially between Ron and Harry.
9:44 - Seriously?!? Is there really a kiss cam at the awards? It focuses on everyone from Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens to Russell Brand and Jonah Hill.
9:45 - Best Kiss goes to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Wow, I am totally shocked. Will they kiss? K-Stew says, "We don't want to let you guys down. We'll give it a shot." They go through all sorts of awkward gestures, then finally (kind of) deliver a very brief kiss. Give up the act, guys.
9:48 - Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg perform "California Girls." Katy Perry is NOT naked. She's wearing a blue wig and a very skimpy version of a Wonder Woman costume. Is it weird that in his high white socks, Snoop looks like a dad on the beach?
9:58 - We get a quick sketch from Human Giant that focuses on stunt kids. I love the kid who says he did Miranda's "Sex and the City" stunts.
9:59 - Betty White on stage!! She joins Bradley Cooper and Scarlett Johansson to present the Generation Award to Sandra Bullock. The crowd goes wild.
10:00 - Bradley Cooper calls "All About Steve" as an award-winning movie. "You are once in a generation talent," he tells Sandra Bullock.
10:01 - Betty White calls Sandra Bullock a national treasure. She jokes and says Sandra portrayed Stevie Wonder in "The Blind Side." Sandra is emotional in the audience. Scarlett has nothing to say.
10:04 - Confession: I'm usually not a Sandra Bullock fan, but this film montage makes me want to watch "Miss Congeniality" again.
10:05 - Sandra Bullock accepts the MTV Generation Award, gets a standing ovation. She looks amazing. The crowd goes crazy. "I'd like to thank Betty for being such an extraordinary woman," she says. "I want your life." Sandra says, "I love what I do and I'm not going anywhere." She wants to clarify a few things, including: "I am not dead." "Everybody has cellulite, not just me." She also showers two times a day.
10:09 - Sandra Bullock asks Scarlett why she's on stage. Scarlett says she wanted to accept her husband's Best Kiss award with Sandra. Sandra says "The Proposal" scene didn't win, but Scarlett thinks Sandra still looks like a good kisser. Then, Sandra and Scarlett lock lips! Bam! After that, Sandra says, "Can we please go back to normal? Because therapy is really expensive." She ends her time on stage with a serious mention of the BP oil spill.
10:12 - Ken Jeong wins Best WTF Moment for "The Hangover." He gets really emotional while saying how his wife has been cancer-free for two years.
10:14 - Aziz Ansari does an R. Kelly parody about Avatar. Not one of the night's funniest moments.
10:15 - Wow, does anyone else think the bleeping is a bit excessive tonight? Ansari's R. Kelly bit ends with some expletives directed at BP.
10:19 - Tom Felton from "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" wins Best Villain. He accepts the award while Will Ferrell hangs from the ceiling.
10:27 - Biggest Badass Star goes to Rain.
10:28 - OMG. OMG. OMG. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner come on stage and introduce the new clip from "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse." Edward and Jacob fight over Bella. An extended dialogue scene, followed by a few action shots. Were you impressed?
10:37 - Best Male Performance goes to Robert Pattinson. He also wins the Global Superstar award. Aww, he even thanks K-Stew.
10:39 - Christina Aguilera, looking all metallic, performs "Bionic," "Not Myself Tonight" and ends with a song that includes a blinking heart-shaped light on her crotch. I'm not embarrassed to admit I enjoy it.
10:50 - Best Comedic Performance goes to Zach Galifianakis for "The Hangover." Aziz Ansari accepts the award while posing as his swagger coach.
10:58 - Best Movie goes to "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." Peter Facinelli accepts the award and drops a bunch of f-bombs, some of which aren't caught by censors.
And we're done. What did you think?
