Bachelor Pad recap: Weatherman, Gia team up to divide house

dminty@ledger-enquirer.comAugust 16, 2010

Make-up artist Jessie Sulidis and Canadian dental salesman Craig McKinnon were eliminated on the second episode of ABC's newest reality TV show "Bachelor Pad." The house was split into two groups. An "outside" group and an "inside" group formed. Jessie's plan to be in both groups failed and one girl in the "outside" group changed her mind at the last minute and sent fellow outsider Craig home.

Here's a recap of the second episode:

The 15 contestants were challenged to a pie-eating contest to earn immunity from the elimination rose ceremony. The first woman and man to finish their pies invited three members of the opposite gender to go on a date. One person on each date was given an immunity rose.

Krisily Kennedy bowed out of the competition because she had her gallbladder removed and was unable to process fat. Gia Allemand, who hates pie, won the women's contest. Several of the girls including Natalie Getz and Tenley Molzhan took puke breaks between bites. Yuck!

Jonathan Novack, aka The Weatherman, thought he was at a disadvantage being one of the smaller guys, but he won the challenge. Wes and Kiptyn were his biggest competition. After discussing strategy with Gia and learning that "inside" and "outside" groups were forming on the women's team, the Weatherman chose Gwen Gioia, Ashley Elmore and Peyton Wright to accompany him on his date.

The inside group leaders are Elizabeth Kitt, Tenley Molzhan and Natalie Getz who want to keep their romantic interests Jesse Kovacs, Kiptyn Locke and Jesse Beck, respectively, on the show.

The "outside" group is run by Gia, Krisily and Nikki Kappke. Jonathan talked Peyton and Ashley into being part of his strategy of outing the "inside" group but with Gwen, Jonathan decided to "go for romance." He gave Gwen the rose. She accepted it, but things didn't look promising for Jonathan. "That's not going to happen. Not in a million years." When Ashely didn't get the rose, she confessed that she might change her strategy. Gia was angry with Jonathan for taking Ashley instead of Krisily or Nikki.

Gia chose Wes and Craig for her date. Then she said she was putting the other guys' names in a bowl and drawing one. She only wrote one name on various pieces of paper, though. Jesse Beck. Why? She said he wasn't really on the "inside" team and she thought she could convince him to be on the "outside" team. Gia told Craig that she was going to give him the rose but then Wes and Jesse wooed her. "I've had this infatuation that you're kind of my girl," Wes said. Gia believed him. "He's such an incredible guy," she said about Wes. She changed her mind and gave the rose to Wes.

Jessie S. and David Good got into the hot tub together and she told him about the "inside" and "outside" groups. Krisily heard the conversation and decided "Jessie S. is a snake." Krisily pulled Kiptyn aside and told him that Jessie S. was "playing both sides." Later, David asked Jessie S. who she was voting off. Jessie told David she would vote off Craig. David told Kiptyn and Jesse K. they needed to vote off Krisily. Jessie S. did vote off Craig.

Last week, Jesse Kovacs told sometimes-date Elizabeth Kitt that he didn't want to be "in a relationship" on the show. This week, he had a different strategy. "All the girls have seen her cry and that obviously hasn't been good for me. I'm actually realizing that being in a couple is a better strategy than being alone."

Jesse B. took Gia's words to heart. He broke off his romantic relationship with Natalie. "I'm an outsider. Natalie is definitely a cool kid... Being in a relationship is not a good idea," Jesse B. said.

The "outside" girls decided to vote off "inside" guy Kiptyn. The "inside" girls chose to vote off Craig.

Realizing they could be in trouble, Kiptyn, Jesse K. and David attempted to persuade Nikki to come back to the "inside" group. The guys determined Nikki had "the swing vote." She shed a lot of tears before making her decision.
