I crawled into some unwashed workout clothes, grabbed a few calorie-laden pizzas and dubbed myself a fashion expert for Sunday's Emmy Awards 2010.
Black, white and navy blue were popular colors on the red carpet, where many celebrities flaunted gowns with glittery embellishments. There weren't too many fashion risks, but some stars pushed the envelope...with mixed results.
Ledger-Enquirer staffers submitted their picks for the night's best- and worst-dressed celebrities. I'll start with my choices.
BEST DRESSED
Sofia Vergara in Carolina Herrera: The "Modern Family" star chose a long sparkly light gold gown. It's a rough color to wear, but the actress' dark features helped her pull it off without looking too pale.
Heidi Klum in Marchesa: The "Project Runway" host will inevitably attract some criticism for wearing a black mini dress on the red carpet, but I love fashion risk-takers who wear their decisions well. The silver jewelry complements it nicely.
Anna Paquin in Alexander McQueen: The "True Blood" star chose a black gown with a metallic armor bodice. It didn''t exactly scream "elegance," but it grew on me as the night progressed. It entered my best-dressed list after I noticed how many actresses played things safe Sunday night.
Kim Kardashian in Marchesa: Should I feel guilty for putting a reality star on my best-dressed list? Hey, at least it's not Kate Gosselin...who actually looked pretty good on the red carpet, too. Anyway, Kim's long white Grecian-style gown exuded elegance without showing too much skin.
WORST DRESSED
Christina Hendricks in Zac Posen: Sorry guys, I'm not a fan of the red hair/purple dress color combination. I also don't like the long dress' feathery embellishment. Plus, she's showing too much cleavage. Apparently I'm now channeling my grandma's inner fashion goddess.
Kyra Sedgwick in Monique Lhuillier: My Twitter pals seem to love this gown, but I think the deep crimson looks like too warm of a color for a summer-ish awards show. I really hate her bed hair. That's how my locks looked after running a 5K Saturday night.
January Jones in Versace: This "Mad Men" star completely failed Sunday night. How many problems surrounded her blue gown? There was the cone-shaped bodice, the odd fabric pattern, the mystifying cut, the weird hoop skirt and the bed hair. Should I keep going?

KATIE HOLLAND'S PICKS
BEST DRESSED
Claire Danes: This former "My So-Called Life" star looked stunning in fitted gold Armani. It was glitzy, it was glam and it worked for her.
Christina Hendricks: I loved her purple Zac Posen gown. Not only is that dusty shade great on her, but I've been obsessed with those wispy feathers lately. She wears them well. The feathers, the color, the romantic flowiness ... and the cleavage! If you've got it, flaunt it - and she's certainly got it! Score one for the curvy girls.
Jewel: Jewel takes the prize for my Ultimate Best Dressed of the night. Her peachy sweetheart neckline lace dress was feminine and romantic and fun. I could get married in that dress. And her red lipstick was spot-on.
Bits and Pieces: I loved the flower in Mariska Hargitay's hair, but didn't care for her dress. Julia Louise-Dreyfus also looked stunning and I loved her green, rectangle dangle earrings. And purple is totally Jane Lynch's color.
WORST DRESSED
January Jones: I wanted to love this bright blue Versace gown. And I did ... until I saw the tail. The color is great, I even liked her "just rolled out of bed" hair. But, as Sonya stated above, there are too many other things wrong with it.
Keri Russell: I only got a peek at this one and I haven't found the designer, but the hot pink, pseudo Marilyn Monroe dress looked like something that should be worn to a beach party, not an awards show.
Mindy Kaling: In theory, I like this dress. In reality, it's like one of my bridesmaids dresses exploded. The black, tea length gown goes one step too far with a big netting ruffle at the top and way too much oomph underneath - I think it's as wide as Mindy is tall.
BEST DRESSED COUPLE
This is a tie between Jon Hamm and his girlfriend and Jon Hamm and Betty White. Hottness all around.
ALAN RIQUELMY'S PICKS
BEST DRESSED
Jayma Mays: That skin-tight dress is a magnet and I'm wearing braces. Mays has the slinky curves to pull off this sophisticated-but-edgy Burberry piece and still have us asking for more. With looks like this, she needs to make sure Mia Michaels doesn't sneak into her bed tonight. Rowr!
Jewel: I don't know where Jewel's been recently. I'm just glad she's back. This strapless lace gown reminds me of Venus rising from the ocean. I'd put an ax in my skull if it meant Jewel would spring forth from the wound.
Christina Hendricks: Simple and magnificent at the same time. Hendricks' bright red hair forms a stark contrast with the muted colors of the dress. Combine that with her milky skin and you've got a recipe for amazing.
WORST DRESSED
Jane Lynch: Ah, yes, I believe I last saw that look on a sponge I keep next to my sink: stained an odd purple with some unknown fuzz stuck at the top. Oh, that's supposed to be her hair? It's difficult to tell where the bad haircut ends and the sickly pale skin begins. Note to Jane: You're in California. Visit a tanning bed.
Katrina Bowden: I've seen taxidermy with more life than this travesty. Are those layers of lavender Q-Tip pullings covering her legs supposed to resemble our ocean of tears as we weep for fashion that might have been? Calgon - take me away! Far away!
Jenna Ushkowitz: Has fashion all of a sudden regressed to Little Red Riding Hood's wardrobe? Ushkowitz looks like she has the body of a Fisher Price toy underneath that bland excuse for a dress. Good thing she's young. At least she'll have a chance to redeem herself next year.
DAWN MINTY'S PICKS
BEST DRESSED
Lea Michele: Navy was the surprise color choice of the evening and no one wore it as well as this "Glee" star in her Oscar de Le Renta strapless, ruffled gown. With the diamond necklace, she looked award-show glamorous.
Eva Longoria Parker: Her black corset-top Robert Rogriguez gown with the feather-detailed skirt fit her petite frame perfectly. She looked like a star which, of course, she is.
Neil Patrick Harris: That's right. I'm naming a man to my best-dressed list. The black tux with bow-tie look is so tired. Yawn. How refreshing to see NPH in this gray Calvin Klein suit with black lapels. Since I'm mentioning men, I must not neglect "Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy who wore a Tom Ford suit with a blue jacket. Hot.
WORST DRESSED
Lauren Graham: That black and white boxy look is perfect for kitchen floor tile but not for an Emmy dress.
Heidi Klum: (Sonya, seriously. Were those pizzas contaminated?). Heidi has a great body, but this is the Emmy Awards not a night out at downtown Columbus hot spot, Oxygen. More fabric, please. That Marchesa dress took the term LBD too far.
SANDRA OKAMOTO'S PICKS
BEST DRESSED
Claire Danes: The talented young actress looked like a grown-up, Hollywood star in the golden, sequined gown by Armani. Just gorgeous.
Jane Lynch: The "Glee" star looked great in her purple taffeta gown.
Mariska Hargitay: Was channeling her mother, Jayne Mansfield, in that figure-hugging, flesh-colored gown.
Anna Paquin: The pre-show named her one of the worst-dressed, but I thought the Alexander McQueen looked good on her. Besides, she had the two best accessories of the night: New hubby Stephen Moyer and co-star Alexander Skarsgaard!
Maura Tierney, recuperating from breast cancer, looked healthy in a red gown. I don't know who did the design.
Not a big fan of George Clooney, but even I had to admit he looked faboo. But then almost any man looks good in a tux.
WORST DRESSED
Why doesn't January Jones have a stylist? That Versace gown was a miss. And why didn't someone tell her to brush her hair?
Her "Mad Men" co-star, Christina Hendricks, needs to get a dress that's a size larger.
And poor Lauren Graham. Someone actually told her to choose that dress. Or maybe she didn't look in the mirror before heading to the Nokia Theatre.
